Pink Patch Project 2019

Essex Fells Police Department is participating in the Pink Patch Project to help raise awareness for breast cancer during the month of October.

In memory of Jan Huston-Pryor and to honor her work in removing any financial barriers for women to receive diagnosis and treatment from a breast care specialist, the members of the Essex Fells Police Department will be participating in the Pink Patch Project. We will be wearing special uniform shirts with a pink version of our regular uniform patch during the month of October.

The Pink Patch Project originated in California and has now grown to over one hundred agencies nationwide. In addition to promoting breast cancer awareness these special patches will be offered for sale at $20 each. Patches can be purchased at Essex Fells Police Headquarters or from any Essex Fells Police Officer in their patrol vehicle as long as they are not on an assignment or a motor vehicle stop.  All proceeds from the sale of these patches will be donated to the I Love You More Fund.

The I Love You More Fund was established in loving memory of Dr. Jan Huston Pryor, who saved both lives as a healing surgeon and as a loving mother. Jan was a world renowned surgeon who dedicated the last twenty years of her life to providing state of the art diagnosis and surgical treatment of breast disease for all patients with a kind, calm and caring manner, and without regard of their capability to pay for her services. She was also a loving mother who adopted ten neglected children from around the world. The I Love You More Fund is set up to honor her memory by providing a vehicle for funds to allow all women to be diagnosed and treated for breast disease, regardless of their financial situation. Finances should never prevent a woman from seeing a breast care specialist, nor prevent her from being treated for breast cancer in a calm, kind, and caring manner.
