Essex County Parks Photography Contest - Submissions Due Wednesday, September 6, 2023

Photographs will be on display at the Essex County Environmental Center throughout the Month of October.

Canoe Clinic on the Passaic River - Monday, June 5, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m.

For families with children ages 6 and older. Join Environmental Center canoe instructors to learn paddle skills at our canoe launch and learn access points to take advantage of the wonderful recreation and wildlife watching opportunities on the river, right here in Essex County! Meet at Garibaldi Hall. Pre-registration and payment required either in person, by mail or online at www.essexcountyparks.org/calendar  Fee: $20 per person

Frog Pond Adveture Outdoor Class - Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 6 to 7:30pm

For families. Advanced registration and minimum number of participants are required. Pre-registration and payment required either in person, by mail or online at www.essexcountyparks.org/calendar. Fee: $30 per family (up to two adults and two children) or $10 per child, $12 per adult.

Little Explorers’ Spring 2023 - Mondays from March through June
Join us for explorations of nature as we study plants and animals and observe the colors, shapes, textures, and sounds in the Environmental Center’s forest habitat. Please come dressed for the weather; all classes include an outdoor adventure. $15 per child per class. Space still available for our 3-4pm session.

Garden Discovery Club - Tuesdays from April through September 2023
For children ages 5 years and up. Together we’ll grow food in our garden plot and learn about everything from soil to seeds along the way. Participants will get hands-on experience with planting, harvesting, and cooking in the garden. Advanced registration, payment & participation waiver are required.

Butterfly Tent Safari - Saturday, July 15 to Saturday, July 29, 2023
Families invited to participate in the Butterfly Tent Safari at the Essex County Environmental Center featuring live butterflies and butterfly-themed programming for all ages. Tent Hours are Monday through Friday from 12 to 3 p.m., and Saturdays, July 15, 22 and 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. $8 per person (free for children 1 years and under).
